Year End Blessings from Earth & Soul

Hello Dear Friends of Earth & Soul,

We are so very grateful for each of you in the worldwide community of Earth & Soul. Thank you for connecting through retreats, pilgrimages, online events, house gatherings, and all the beautiful ways you have been in relationship with us and one another. Together we continue to deepen and develop our threefold vision of study, spiritual practice, and compassionate action as we help enable the urgent work of healing and new beginnings in our lives and world.

In 2024 Earth & Soul offered over thirty retreats, speaking events, and pilgrimages. John Philip’s latest book, The Great Search: Turning to Earth & Soul in the Quest for Healing & Home was released in August and there have been book launch celebrations in Findhorn, Iona, Atlanta, Edinburgh and London. ’Hebridean Treasure: Lost & Found’, the live stage performance of dance, music, and song, written by John Philip and performed by some of the most talented young artists and musicians in Scotland completed a second Scottish tour including a performance on Iona. In October we were sad to learn of the devastation caused by Hurricanes Helene and Milton in North Carolina and continue to hold all affected in our hearts. As we began to post cancelations for some of our events, one of the announcements canceling a talk entitled “Celtic Spirituality: Why It Matters Now” received a comment from a dear person who wrote, “And this is why it matters now.” She is, of course, right. Turning to Earth & Soul is what we are being called to collectively at this moment in time.

In Chapter 1 of The Great Search John Philip writes,

'At the heart of the Christian tradition is the story of incarnation, of God born in the flesh. But what have we done with this radical story of the divine-human intermingling in the Christ Child? We have said it points only to one, Jesus, rather than to all. We have treated him as an exception to humanity and as an exception to the universe, rather than as a revelation of humanity and Earth, all flesh, all matter interpenetrated with spirit. The cherished song of Immanuel that has echoed down through the centuries within the walls of Christianity needs now to be sung clearly and emphatically as a song of the immanence of the divine in all things, pointing not simply to the divine with us in one person, one place, and one time but to the divine within us in every person, every place, and every time.'
(The Great Search,
p. 19)

May we embody this way of seeing the divine in each person, in Earth, and in each moment. We invite you to join us at one of our Earth & Soul events in 2025. See the Events page for a full listing.
